orlando family stage

After 20 seasons, Orlando Repertory Theatre was ready for a name change in order to more clearly align the organization with its mission, and appeal more clearly to its primary audience - families. Now known as Orlando Family Stage, it is the eighth iteration of the theater company founded in 1926. The organization’s mission is to empower young people to be brave and empathetic by creating quality theatrical experiences.

This new name provided:

• Ownership of their market niche (family audiences)

• Uniqueness

• Clarity

• An expanded audience understanding of their programming without lengthy explanations

Why “Stage”? The word Stage serves a triple purpose. First, there is the obvious meaning (it is a theatre) — performing onstage is at the root of nearly everything they do. Second, it highlights the multigenerational makeup of its audiences. From babies to school children to teens to graduate students to parents to grandparents, they serve every stage of the audience’s life. Third, as the organization approaches its 100th anniversary, it points to the stage they have reached: a professional theatre for families and young audiences, and the 8th iteration of an arts organization

founded in 1926.

Coupled with an elevated, refreshed visual identity, this name is not only the logical evolution

of who they have become, but points to who they continue to be, and aim to serve.
